Stephane Zubar joins Vale on a month's loan

Vale have this morning snapped up Bournemouth defender Stephane Zubar on a month’s loan and the player will be in the squad for the game at Fleetwood at the weekend.

The 27-year-old Bournemouth defender, who can play as a right back or at centre back, was previously at Caen, Pau, Brussels, Vaslui and Plymouth Argyle.

Born in Pointe-à-Pitre, he was capped by Guadeloupe at international level, making his international debut at the 2011 Gold Cup.

Staphane told the official Port Vale website it was Micky Adams who first approached him to join the club in the summer, but at the time he was struggling with his fitness.

He said: “he wanted me to come on trial last June but I wasn’t fit enough, so two weeks ago my agent rang me and I told him straight away if it can happen I would be pleased.

“What player would not want to play for Port Vale? It is a big club with a big stadium with a big pitch and it is just perfect.

“Now it is up to me to show the manager what I can bring to the side and I am looking forward to it.

I have played in League One before and have also played in the Europa League so I feel I can bring experience to the team and it is a great opportunity for me.”
