Micky Adams was very frustrated with yesterday's loss to Chesterfield and the performance to go with it. With that in mind, he feels there is a lot of thinking to do in regards to how he can change the teams poor form around.
Vale managed to pull back a goal going into half time, but an early second half goal by the Spireites was enough to give the Derbyshire side the win.
Micky said: "I'm obviously disappointed, it's been a bad week and I'm bitterly disappointed by the way we defended for both goals.
"We let in an early goal in the second half through something we spoke about at half time. I said we weren't winning enough headers from the big man, we needed to be a bit cleverer with him, and then to see that happening within 20 seconds of the restart, it wasn't good enough.
"A disappointing aspect from our point of view is that we keep giving teams lifts and we're always chasing. We've chased the last three games and it's not been good enough."
Micky admitted however that there are aspects that he is happy with, for example the attacking play, but again Vale were unable to turn their chances into goals.
He explained: "Certainly from an attacking point of view, we've seen once again glimpses of what we want to be doing."
"We were certainly unfortunate not to have scored many more than one goal, because we missed some clear cut chances, but it's the way we defend which is poor. We need to report back on Monday and work doubly hard.
"I've got a lot of food for thought, my thinking is all over the place at this moment in time. As I said to the boys, I've given everyone except for a small number of players a chance this season, and I feel like we're underachieving.
"Certainly we can't defend like we have done all season, I know we've paved over the cracks a little bit, but we have to work hard to change how we go about things especially on a defensive point of view, because there's too many people making defensive errors."
