Vale down to bare bones again with further injury problems
Micky Adams says Vale are again down to bare bones ahead of their Easter fixtures and Vale look likely to have only five players available for the bench for Friday’s home fixture against MK Dons.
Vale will get ready for the Good Friday fixture and keep their fingers crossed they don’t pick up any further injuries and then start to think about Monday’s game against Rotherham United.
He said: “It is the old adage, one game at a time. We will look at the MK Dons fixture and have a look at the players fit and available to us and try and win that game.
“Jennison Myrie-Williams has not been inside the football club since last week, he has been ill, so I don’t think he is going to be involved in the MK Dons game.
“And Rob Taylor on Thursday morning has tweaked hi thigh again, so he won’t be involved. If you add Nathan Smith to that, I think we are down to sixteen players.
“What we are going to try and do is get this game out of the way and then regroup, re-assess and see what we have got fit and available for the Rotherham game.”
“MK Dons have had similar season to ourselves. They will be slightly disappointed that they have not got closer to the play-offs tan they would have expected.
“Obviously ( Patrick ) Bamford was a key player for them before Christmas and we saw the qualities that he had. In the game down there we were down within five minutes to a long-range shot and they became really confident after that.
“That is typical of players at this level, if they get off to a good start they tend to be more confident and like us before Christmas, we got off to the worse possible start and it affected our confidence.
“What we certainly don’t want to do tomorrow is give them the confidence and belief that they can get a result here.
“What we want to do is play to our strengths the best we can and try and nullify theirs.. They like to get the ball down and pass it out from the back.
They have got some decent players, but like I said before, they haven’t got Bamford and he was the key player for me at their place.
“I am not being disrespectful when I say that about any of the other MK Dons players because they have still got good players.
“But I am looking for a response from my players after the defeat to Notts County last week.”
