Defender moves to Mansfield Town
John McCombe paid tribute to Port Vale as he said goodbye to the club after five years.
The central defender has completed his move to newly promoted League Two club Mansfield Town.
McCombe thanked the club and its fans for the support shown over the past five roller coaster years.
He said: “The manager and staff have been brilliant with me as well but most importantly the fans have been absolutely amazing. I just want to thank them for their support.
“Obviously I am moving on to pastures new but I just want to say thank you."
McCombe added: “It is difficult and I have been here five years, they have been five really good years.
“There have been a lot of ups and downs in that time but I have really enjoyed my time here.”
McCombe also praised his team-mates with whom he won Vale’s first promotion since 1994 with.
“I love all the players I have got some friends in there that I will keep in touch with for the rest of my life,” said McCombe.
