MIDFIELDER WATCHING BALL BOY

30 November 2012

Kingsley James gives his nephew a warning ahead of Cup match

Midfielder Kingsley James has his fingers crossed he will be selected for the big game against his former club Sheffield United on Saturday, and he will be keeping an special eye on one of the ball boys at the match.

Kingsley explained: “I just want to get back there and hopefully I will be starting. It’s a big occasion , not just because it is my previous club, but it’s my first FA Cup match as well.

“I always remember when Vale played there in the Carling Cup and Marc Richards scored two goal and knocked us out. I was a ball boy that day. It is a good omen that we have beaten Sheffield United there before.

“My nephew plays for the Under 13s at Sheffield United and he has told me it is war on Saturday. He is Sheffield United through and through and he will be a ball boy.

“I have told him if he takes his time and we are losing he is going to get a clip around the ear.

“I have told him if I am running for the ball or another member of the Vale team are running for the ball, he’d better throw it in twice as quick, or at least as quickly as he would for Sheffield United.

“I know a few of the lads who will be starting for them on Saturday, maybe Dave McAllister, Harry McGuire, George Long, I know those people.

“They are nice lads and we are friends off the field, but when we get on the field it is a different story. It is a very different team to the one they had last season and they have lost a couple of good players, but they have got a good young team and it should be a good game.

“The fans are really good there so they will be getting behind their team, but we are taking a really good following, so it will be a great atmosphere and a good occasion for everyone.”
